Stringify is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free after-school violin programs for elementary students. We believe every child should have access to the joy of learning music — regardless of background or financial means.
-
Our programs are open to students in grades 4–5 at participating schools. No prior music experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to learn!
-
No. The program is completely free for all students.
Stringify provides violins, music sheets, stands, and instruction at no cost. -
Our sessions are led by Middle School and High School mentors under the guidance of experienced adult instructors.
Each instructor has at least eight years of playing experience and actively performs with multiple orchestras across the city.
This near-peer mentorship model helps younger students learn in a supportive and relatable environment, while giving older students meaningful opportunities to develop leadership, teaching, and communication skills. -
Students will learn the fundamentals of violin playing — including posture, bowing, fingering, rhythm, and basic music reading.
Beyond technique, our program helps children build confidence, focus, teamwork, and discipline — skills that extend far beyond music.Stringify also helps prepare students for middle school music and orchestra programs, bridging the gap created by the lack of funding for public school music education. Our mission is to equalize the playing field so that every child — whether or not they can afford private lessons — has the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience the joy of music.
-
Each session typically runs for 6–8 weeks after school, with one to two classes per week, depending on the school schedule.
