FAQs

How much time do I have to commit as a mentor?

We know students have busy schedules! Mentors usually commit atleast 6 hours per week (typically more), and we offer flexible scheduling so you can balance school, activities, and mentoring. Even a small time commitment can make a big impact on a young student’s life.

Will I receive any training or support?

Yes! Before mentoring, you’ll attend a short orientation or training session that covers effective teaching techniques, communication tips, and program expectations. You’ll also have ongoing support from the Stringify team and fellow mentors.

Do I need previous teaching experience?

Not at all! Stringify provides guidance, resources, and support to help you become a confident mentor. All you need is enthusiasm, patience, and a passion for music — we’ll help you with the rest.

What makes Stringify different from other volunteer programs?

Stringify is unique because it combines music, mentorship, and leadership development. You’re not just volunteering — you’re helping others grow through the power of music while developing real-world skills that prepare you for future success.

What instruments or music skills can I teach?

You can mentor in most areas of music. The most typical areas are strings(excluding piano) and vocal. We match mentors with students based on interests and skill levels so the experience feels natural and rewarding for both.
